Water Conservation

Water is a precious resource - it provides tourism, recreation, habitat for endangered species, and drinking water for a rapidly growing population. To insure this resource will be available in the future, each of us must strive to use water as efficiently as possible and to become water-wise consumers.

The City offers a variety of water conservation programs to help accomplish these goals. Our water conservation program line-up includes rebates, irrigation system check-ups, indoor water surveys, and public and school education opportunities.

Thank you for participating in our programs, and for doing your part to preserve our most valuable natural resource.

Rebate / Incentive Programs

The City of San Marcos provides rebates to those customers who purchase and install qualifying water conserving items listed below:

Irrigation System Evaluations

The City offers free irrigation system check-ups for both residential and commercial water customers. City staff will evaluate your irrigation system to make sure it is operating as efficiently as possible. We'll check for leaks, make sure sprinkler heads are adjusted properly, check for high or low pressure, and make sure your timer is set correctly. After the evaluation we'll provide a customized report outlining problem areas, and provide recommendations for addressing them.

Irrigation system check-ups are scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. To schedule your check-up, email Devin Hussey or call 512-393-8308 today, and find out how much you can save!

Indoor Water Surveys

The City offers free indoor water surveys to customers that would like to save water and money. City staff will evaluate your home or business to make sure you are using water as efficiently as possible. We'll check for leaks, assess plumbing fixtures and appliances, and evaluate other indoor water uses. Afterwards we'll provide a customized report detailing recommended water conservation strategies and their expected savings.

Indoor water surveys are scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. To schedule your survey, email Devin Hussey or call 512-393-8308 today, and find out how much you can save!
