Planning and Development Services
The Planning and Development Services Department and Permitting Center is open for business Monday to Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. In person visits may be done by scheduling an appointment at https://v2.waitwhile.com/welcome/pds.
The Tourist Information Center will be open to the public Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Staff will be rotating shifts to minimize contact. Visitors are asked to maintain social distancing and wear a mask when inside the building.
The Main Street Office will be open to the public and business owners Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at their new location in the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, 202 N CM Allen Pkwy. Visitors are asked to maintain social distancing and wear a mask when inside the building.
San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter
Starting September 19, the Adoption Center will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 12 p.m. - 7 p.m., and Saturday 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. The Adoption Center will permit walk-ins, but we recommend making an appointment ahead of time at https://v2.waitwhile.com/welcome/smrasadoptionto allow a more dedicated and contact-reduced adoption experience. The Intake and Reclaim offices will be open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. but will remain by appointment with some drive-up capabilities to reduce contact.
The Activity Center Gym, Pool, and other recreation rooms will be open on a modified schedule running Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m., with a one hour closure 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. each day for sanitizing, disinfecting and cleaning, and Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. with a one hour closure at 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. The Activity Center will be admitting patrons on a 25% capacity determined per each area of the facility.
Anyone wanting to visit the Activity Center MUST make a reservation 24 hours in advance before going. Reservations will be for one hour, and patrons cannot go over that time. You can reserve each area one time per day, but may reserve multiple areas while at your stay (For example: 7 a.m. - 8 a.m.: Cardio Room 1, 8 a.m. - 9 a.m., Gymnasium for open play basketball, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.: Cooldown area.)
When you arrive at the Activity Center, please wear a mask, maintain a distance of 6 feet, and use the designated floor markers to check in.
The San Marcos Public Library will be open to the public for Grab & Go check out of library materials and computer use Monday through Saturday 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.. Visitors must wear masks and use sanitizing stations upon entering, and occupancy will be limited to 76 visitors at a time.
The library will continue to offer Front Porch Pickup service Monday through Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. and every day, seven days a week from 4 to 6 p.m.. Information services by phone, text, and email is available Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m..
Library staff will continue to offer online programs via Facebook Live and Zoom, and many of their past programs can be found on the library’s YouTube channel.
The Municipal Court Lobby will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 pm to 4:30 p.m. with late hours until 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month.
Residents are asked to please maintain social distancing and wear masks while in the lobby.
The City Clerk's office will be open Monday and Wednesday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., with breaks from 11:45 to 1 for lunch. Staff will be helping customers by appointment only, which can be set by emailing email@example.com or by calling 512.393.8090. Walk-ins will not be accommodated.
When you’re at the office, there will be hand sanitizing stations, markers on the floor to maintain social distancing, masks available to those who don’t have their own, and plexiglass dividers. Residents are asked to stand on the floor markers while waiting for service.
