City of San Marcos Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is operated under contract by Jacobs. This facility has one of the most stringent discharge permits in Texas, and is closely monitored to protect the water quality of the San Marcos River. Operators are required by TCEQ to have, and maintain, wastewater operations certifications. The plant manager is required to have an “A” wastewater operations certification. The facility is permitted to process up to 9 million gallons of wastewater per day, and currently treats a daily average of approximately 4 – 5 million gallons per day. Biosolids generated at the WWTP are disposed of at a landfill, and an odor control system prevents foul odors from leaving the plant site.
