Youth Baseball & Softball
The San Marcos Youth Baseball Softball Association (SMYBSA) offers youth baseball and softball during the spring season. Baseball is played at Ramon Lucio Park and softball is played at the Gary Sports Complex. For more information and to register, visit the SMYBSA website.
USA Developmental Softball
The developmental softball program is for girls ages 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U. Play will adhere to basic USA Softball rules, with league-wide modifications where appropriate. Participants can learn the fundamentals in this recreational, coach-pitch and fast-pitch league. Participants also learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and competition while engaging in fun! Games will be played against teams from the surrounding area. This program is intended as an alternative to select softball. Softballs and scorebooks are provided but no other equipment is provided by the program. Along with season games, teams will have practice sessions during the week based on coach/team availability. Registration is online as a team. To register, visit the ACTIVE net website.
Youth Basketball
They might be small, but they play with the same passion as the pros! The Junior NBA/WNBA program focuses on introducing and developing the fundamental skills of passing, dribbling and shooting while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship. Team t-shirts and sport equipment is provided; all other protective gear is provided by the player. Along with season games, which take place on Saturdays at the San Marcos Activity Center, teams will have one practice session during the week (based on coach/team availability). Practices never begin before 5pm. Each individual registers themselves online for this league. Once teams are formed, the coach will call to inform of practice day/time. Youth Soccer
The Surge Soccer Club promotes youth soccer in San Marcos and the surrounding areas. The league is held at Five Mile Dam Soccer Complex. For more information and to register, visit the Surge Soccer Club website.
Youth Snake League Soccer
The purpose of the Snake League is to give youth a healthy recreational experience learning the fundamentals of soccer. Participants learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and competition while engaging in fun! Teams are coed and play indoors at the San Marcos Activity Center. Team t-shirts and sport equipment is provided; all other protective gear is provided by the player. Along with season games, which take place on Saturdays, teams will have one practice session during the week (based on coach/team availability). Practices never begin before 5pm. Each individual registers themselves online for this league. Once teams are formed, the coach will call to inform of practice day/time. Please note: coach requests will not be granted. Youth Velcro T-Ball
Come and learn the fundamentals of baseball/softball in our introductory program for children ages 3-4. Games are played indoors at the San Marcos Activity Center using velcro gloves and balls provided by the program. Team t-shirts are also provided by the program; all other protective gear is provided by the player. Along with season games, which take place on Saturdays, teams will have one practice session during the week (based on coach/team availability). Practices never begin before 5pm. Youth Volleyball
Participants can learn to bump, set, spike, and other fundamentals in this modified version of youth volleyball! Participants also learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and competition while engaging in fun! Along with season games, which take place on Monday nights at the San Marcos Activity Center, teams will have one practice session during the week (based on coach/team availability). Youth Flag Football
This is an exceptional program for first time players who want to develop basic motor skills as well as learn the fundamentals of football. This is also a great opportunity for players who want to enhance their skills before taking the next step into tackle football. There are no try-outs, everyone participates! Come and have fun in our Kickball program for 3-10 year olds. Youth Tennis Clinics
Instructor Kyle Huls offers seasonal youth and adult tennis lessons at the Rio Vista Tennis Courts for participants 9-17 years old. Beginner to advanced classes are held throughout the year in four-week sessions. To register, visit the ACTIVE net website.
Youth Karate
Hill Country Karate has partnered with the Parks and Recreation Department for over 25 years. The class are instructed by Mr. Richard Rodriguez, who received his Blackbelt in 2012. Mr. Rodriguez enjoys teaching all ages and knows that children who enroll in karate classes will experience positive benefits such as improved coordination, strength, flexibility, and self-defense skills.
