Fire Permits

Permits allow code officials to monitor work and ensure compliance with the City of San Marcos codes and reduce potential hazards of unsafe conditions. For more information or questions on the permitting process contact the Permit Center. A permit application (PDF) is required, please email it directly to the City of San Marcos Permit Center. Once the permit has been applied for and the appropriate documents submitted, it will go into the review phase where we will make comments and either approve or deny the plans.

Permit Fee Schedule

The Planning and Development Services Department charges fees for processing and review of development applications. City Council approved an updated fee schedule which is effective March 1, 2023.

Applying for a Fire Permit

The Fire Marshals Office utilizes MyPermitNow, a web-based permitting software, that allows contractors and developers the ability to login using a unique password and account ID. MyPermitNow is also used to submit and review digital plans, track the status of projects, schedule inspections, and pay for permits online. Use the online portal to request inspections from our office.
