The City of San Marcos On-Site Sewage Facilities (OSSF) Program provides permitting within the city limits for septic systems for commercial and residential properties. For questions, please email the Designated Representative Natalie Flygare or call 512-393-8444.
Once your application has been processed, you will receive an email with a link to pay the permit fee.
A designated representative will review your application and plans and notify you of any corrections to be made within 30 days. A field inspection verifying the site suitability may be coordinated with you at the inspector's discretion.
Once the plan review has been approved, you will be issued an Authorization to Construct (ATC) with an expiration date 1 year from date of issue.
Construction may begin at any point during the ATC time period, but you may not ground cover any part of the construction prior to scheduling and passing a system inspection with the City of San Marcos designated representative.
Upon passing the system inspection, the inspector will give written permission to cover the site. An operational inspection may be scheduled at the inspector's discretion.
Upon passing required inspection(s), the inspector will issue the permit to operate.
If you suspect an on-site sewage facility is out of compliance, please report you concern by submitting the OSSF Complaint Form. The Environmental Health and Food Safety Department will review your submission and contact you.
If you are looking for records or plans of an on-site sewage facility with city limits, please file a Public Information Request (PIR) with the City Clerk's Office. For questions or issues with the PIR system, please contact Jeanette Casarez at 512-393-8055.
A $415 fee will be assessed for all new installations and repairs to systems requiring updated plans. The cost of a re-inspection is $250. After-hours (after 5 p.m. or on Saturday/Sunday) inspections will be charged an additional $250.
