Food Protection is responsible for promoting a healthy community by minimizing the possibility of foodborne illnesses.

This is accomplished through:
  • Food establishment complaint investigations
  • Food establishment inspections
  • Food Handler Training
  • New food establishment permitting and plan reviews

Anyone who wants to operate a food establishment within the city limits must fill out an Application and follow all applicable laws and regulations.

Following is a list of food establishment types:
  • Fixed Food Establishment
  • Mobile Food Unit (MFU)
  • Temporary Food Establishment

"Portable" Food Units

Portable Minimum Safety Requirements
For the 2018 renewal process, all Portables will need to meet Mobile Food Unit requirements specified in the 2015 Texas Food Establishment Rules.
