50 - Plus Programs

  1. Adult Pickleball Open Play

    November 24, 2020, 8:30 AM - 11:45 AM @ San Marcos Activity Center Gym

    Pickleball is offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays. You must reserve a time slot to play. There are two, 1.5 hour time slots that are available each day Pickleball is offered. One is from 8:30-10:00 AM, the other is from 10:15-11:45 AM. You are only allowed to sign up for one time slot per day. There will be four courts set up, with maximum of four people per court with four people waiting/resting in each gym. It is open play for both gyms and the gyms are no longer designated as competitive or recreational. Participants must bring their own Pickleball paddles and ball (balls are available for purchase). Players serve only their ball. Masks must be worn while inside the Activity Center. All players must adhere to proper social distancing guidelines. All players must agree that they have read and understand the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department Release and Waiver of Liability.     Do you have a pet needing to be spayed or neutered? The Emancipet Mobile Clinic will be stopping in San Marcos. These services are low-cost, but not free. All surgeries require an appointment. Please call Emancipet at 512-587-7729 to schedule your appointment and tell them you're coming to the San Marcos Mobile Clinic. Services are for animals receiving spay/neuter surgery only.   1. Winter Wonderland Kits

    November 20, 2020 - November 29, 2020

    It may not feel like winter outside just yet, but you can turn down the AC and pretend with our Winter Wonderland Kits! These at-home activity kits are designed for two and cost $7.00 per kit. Each will include winter-themed items and activities, such as crafts, snacks, hot chocolate, supplies to build mini gingerbread houses, and a few more items. You can purchase your kit by searching for Winter Wonderland Kits at www.sanmarcostx.gov/ACTIVEsmtx from November 20-29.   2. SMTX Veterans Month of Service - Week 4: Support the Hays Co Food Bank

    The City of San Marcos will be hosting a month of service opportunities for the community to honor all who have served. November 22-30 - Support the Hays County Food Bank: The Hays County Food Bank along with the VFW Post #3413 and the Hays County Veterans Service Office host a Veterans Food Assistance Distribution on October 24, November 21, and December 19. (Veterans must sign up prior to going to the food distribution.) A list of foods to donate along with instructions on how to donate them can be found here. When dropping the food items off, please include a note that the food is for the Veterans Food Assistance Distribution. Food items can also be ordered on Amazon and delivered to the Food Bank. Monetary donations can be made online at the Hays County Food Bank's donation webpage or by mailing them a check.   3. SMTX Hometown Holiday Shoebox Parade

    The City of San Marcos will be hosting the inaugural SMTX Hometown Holiday Shoebox Parade on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, online at 2 p.m. The parade is dedicated to promoting community engagement, holiday spirit, and shopping local in the great city of San Marcos. Individuals, children, families, businesses, civic organizations, and non-profits are all invited to participate by decorating a shoebox with theme of choice, submitting the online entry form, and turning it in at one of the drop off locations. There is no cost to participate. The San Marcos Public Library will be offering shoebox float packets available for front porch pick up during their modified hours of operation. Details will be released at a later date for an “I Spy” parade watching competition for youth and adults.
