Library News

Growing Up Wild

January 16, 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Come out to this nature experience! We’ll read books on different nature topics each month, followed by a fun craft or outdoor activity. Preschool aged children are welcome to attend our 10:00 a.m. session, while school aged children should attend our after-school session at 4:00 p.m.


Storytime

January 17, 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Children are invited to the library for great stories, songs, and fun.


Baby Storytime

January 17, 12:00 p.m.

An early literacy playgroup for pre-walkers. Join other babies for songs, stories, stretches and playtime!


IRS Hiring Event

January 18, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Austin IRS office is currently looking to hire 2,100 employees. Employment recruiters will be at the library ready to give information about the job openings, and assist people in the application process. They will also be giving information about the “Pathway Program” for students that are 16 years of age and up and U.S. Citizens.


Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

January 18, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Join the Dunbar Heritage Association for a celebration of the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Create your own poster for the upcoming annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day March. This is a family friendly event. We’ll have lots to do for children of all ages! All craft materials and snacks will be provided. Registration required.


Intro to Digital Marketing for Small Businesses

January 18, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Puppet Show! Anansi and the Talking Melon

January 21, 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The library puppeteers perform a puppet show for all ages.


Cuéntame Bilingual Stories

January 21, 12:00 p.m.

For ages 3 to 6. Stories, songs, and fun in English and Spanish. Para niños de 3 a 6 años. Cuentos, canciones, y diversión en inglés y español.


Computer Class

January 22, 10:00 a.m.

Free introductory computer classes in email, Internet searching, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel for adults. Learn how to get started with your iPad or tablet.
