[ARCHIVED] Senior Wellness Checks to begin

Senior Citizen Wellness Check FB Image

The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is offering wellness checks to anyone 60+ who would like to be called during the stay-at-home order issued by Hays County. If you or someone you know would like a social wellness check, call 512.393.8412 and leave the name and phone number of the person to be added to the phone list.

Social distancing is important, but it could also affect the health of senior citizens by isolating them. The City is making calls to seniors to say hello and check in on them every few days if they wish to remain on the list. These wellness checks will continue through the stay-at-home order.

Emotional health is also important as now is the time to reach out through phone calls and video calls to family, friends, and neighbors who may be vulnerable.  You may also receive a phone call from us as we are reaching out to all past and present program participants and Activity Center members. If you receive a call, you can opt to either continue receiving checks or to be removed from the list.

If you have COVID-19 related questions, please call 512.393.5525.

For a list of Resident Resources, please visit www.sanmarcostx.gov/covid19info and click “Resident Resources” on the left-hand menu. This site currently contains information on the Hays County Food Bank, Community Action Utility Bill assistance, information for tenants in San Marcos, open restaurants, and doing business with the City remotely. It is regularly updated and new information is being added daily. The left-hand menu also has links for COVID-19 FAQs, Mayoral Orders, and press releases.

The San Marcos Public Library has also put together a resource guide: http://www.hank.ci.san-marcos.tx.us/Stronger/Together.htm
