Summer Camp Registration Open for San Marcos Residents

Registration is now open for residents for the annual Summer Fun and Discovery Camp programs. People may register children for these fun and educational summer camps in person at the Grant Harris Jr. Building, 401 E. Hopkins.

Registration for non-residents opens April 23.

Summer Fun

Summer Fun will be a five-day program, Monday-Friday, June 11 – Aug. 10. There will be no camp on July 4, as well as a week off July 9- 13.

Camp runs from 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. at Travis and Bowie Elementary Schools. Campers will participate in board games, basketball, crafts, and one field trip per week. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for every child by San Marcos CISD. Extra money for concessions may be sent with your child to camp.

Cost for residents is $32/week and $50/week for non-residents, which can be paid weekly. This camp is for ages 7-14 (six-year-olds are welcome if they have completed the first grade).

The City offers a Youth Activity Scholarship for up to half the weekly cost for Summer Fun on a first come, first serve basis. Information on requirements and the registration process is available online at

Discovery Camp

Discovery Camp will also be a five-day program, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. June 11 – Aug. 10 for children ages 5 -10. Camp will take place at the San Marcos Rec Hall. There will be two trips per week to the Discovery Center for environmental education, one pool day at Rio Vista Pool and one off-site field trip per week. Each week has a different theme and objectives for the campers:

Week 1- Ready. Set. Glow

Week 2- River Rat

Week 3- Mad Scientist

Week 4- Pollinators

Week 5- Keep San Marcos Beautiful

Week 6-Friends of Trees

Week 7- Indigenous Cultures

Week 8- Central Texas Critters

Week 9- Motion Mania

There will be no camp on July 4, with a discount available that week. The registration fee for residents is $150/week; registration for non-residents is $175/week. A sibling discount is available. San Marcos CISD will provide a sack lunch each day of camp.
