Get ready to rock at the San Marcos Public Library for a very special Summer Reading Program kickoff festival on Friday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. “Reading Rocks!” features music, games, crafts, and geology for all ages. Kids 5 to 18 years old will love scrambling up 26 feet of climbing wall and listening to musical acts throughout the morning, including Laurie Jasinski with dinosaur songs and Texas tunes, and Andy Hartsock and the Ninjas. Be sure to pick up a reading log, check out books, and prepare for a summer of fun!
The summer reading program runs from June 4 through Aug. 15 and helps children maintain and build reading skills. The program can also help prepare children and teens for the upcoming school year and a successful academic future. The library will host over 125 free events for babies, children, tweens, and teens in June, July, and August.
June 4 is the first day to pick up a reading log. Start early, read lots of books, and try to win one of our grand prizes. The more you read, the better your chance to win. Read all summer long! Drawings will be held at the end of July for special ticket prizes, mid-August for other prizes.
See the calendar of events at www.sanmarcostx.gov/librarycalendar or stop by the library to pick up a printed calendar.
The summer reading program is sponsored by the San Marcos Kiwanis and Friends of the Library.
