Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee - Applications Available!

The City is accepting applications from citizens interested in serving on the Comprehensive Plan Rewrite Steering Committee. The City Council provided direction to rewrite the City’s current comprehensive plan, Vision San Marcos, originally adopted in 2013. This comprehensive plan rewrite will establish the goals and vision for the future of San Marcos for the next 20 years.

As part of this rewrite, a citizen steering committee is being established to help guide San Marcos' comprehensive planning process. The committee will include approximately 20 people who, together, represent the broad interests that exist within the community.

Members of the steering committee will have an important role in shaping the planning process by providing unique perspectives, expertise, and ensuring that participation in the planning process is inclusive of the community.

To apply, please complete the online application HERE.

You may also pick up a paper copy of the application from the Planning and Development Services Department by emailing planninginfo@sanmarcostx.gov or call 512.393.8230.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2020.

Participate in the Platinum Planning Study Virtual Open House

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), in collaboration with the City of San Marcos, invites the public to participate in the San Marcos Platinum Planning Study Virtual Open House and online survey through September 28.

The study aims to identify needs and strategies to support potential transportation and development planning efforts within the San Marcos community. The study will focus on evaluating three transportation corridors outlined in the map below and will suggest potential improvements for transportation users including motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Additionally, the study will examine several activity centers, including the Government Complex, Midtown Center, and the Medical Center, to create concepts for transportation and connections to housing, jobs, and services.

Residents, community groups, students, businesses, and those who commute to and from San Marcos are encouraged to share their thoughts and help spread the word to neighbors and friends about how to participate in this study.

To learn more and participate in the interactive study in both English and Spanish, visit SMTXStudy.com.

Materials may be requested by mail and comments may also be submitted via email to info@campotexas.org or by calling 737.231.1437.
