More… Designed for adults ages 18 and older who either work or live in the City of San Marcos and meet program criteria, including a criminal background check. The 12 week program is available on a yearly basis, meets once a week, including three Saturday's at Fire Station # 5, 100 Carlson Circle. The Academy runs every Monday evening at Fire Station #5, 100 Carlson Circle from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (excluding holidays), from mid-August to graduation night in early November. More… Free battery operated smoke detectors are available for homeowners in need that live within the San Marcos City limits. If you need a battery operated smoke detector installed, SMFD can provide and install new smoke detectors. SMFD can also provide battery assistance. If you are able to provide your own batteries, we would be happy to assist in installing your new batteries. For residents that may have trouble financially, we can provide batteries. Providing your own batteries will help us further this assistance program throughout the entire community. Please fill out the request below and we'll get in contact with you. Please note dates and times are considered a request. SMFD's priority schedules consist of continual training, events, and work within an active 911 system.
