  1. Winter Polespear Tournament- San Marcos River

    November 1, 2017, 5:00 AM - November 21, 2017, 8:00 PM @ Location dependent upon time slot chosen. See registration for time slot locations.

    The Winter Polespear Tournament will be three weeks long where participants will have the opportunity to legally spearfish non-native, invasive tilapia and suckermouth catfish, as well as remove red-rimmed melania and giant ramshorn snails. Participants will be allowed to register for three time slots, each timeslot 5 hours long. After you have registered on Event Bee, email Nick Menchaca at to sign up for your time slots. We will have prizes for: Most weight removed: First, Second and Third; Top Haul: First, Second and Third; Most Suckermouth catfish; First Tilapia; Heaviest Suckermouth Catfish; Heaviest Tilapia; Shortest Suckermouth Catfish; Shortest Tilapia; Most Snails; Most Trash Removed. Don't pass up on your only legal opportunity to spearfish in the upper San Marcos River!

  3. Homeschool PE Class

    The Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the San Marcos Homeschoolers Group to provide Physical Education opportunities for area homeschool students. Homeschool PE classes meet every Friday during their regular semester at the San Marcos Activity Center. Each class costs $5 per family.
