  1. Adult Pickleball Open Play

    November 13, 2020, 8:30 AM - 11:45 AM @ San Marcos Activity Center Gym

    Pickleball is offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays. You must reserve a time slot to play. There are two, 1.5 hour time slots that are available each day Pickleball is offered. One is from 8:30-10:00 AM, the other is from 10:15-11:45 AM. You are only allowed to sign up for one time slot per day. There will be four courts set up, with maximum of four people per court with four people waiting/resting in each gym. It is open play for both gyms and the gyms are no longer designated as competitive or recreational. Participants must bring their own Pickleball paddles and ball (balls are available for purchase). Players serve only their ball. Masks must be worn while inside the Activity Center. All players must adhere to proper social distancing guidelines. All players must agree that they have read and understand the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department Release and Waiver of Liability.   1. Tales on the Trails

    November 13, 2020, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM @ Spring Lake Natural Area

    The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, San Marcos Public Library, and Community Action, Inc. are partnering to bring you Tales on the Trails at Spring Lake Natural Area during the month of November. As you navigate our trails, follow the story of Kiko as she goes on a camping trip with her class and learns about gratitude. “This story is based on the ‘theory of mind,’ which is the ability to take the perspective of others and recognize that each person has their own thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. Growing gratitude leads to greater happiness and stronger interpersonal relationships.” You and your family are invited to take a self-guided tour starting at the Lime Kiln trailhead of Spring Lake Natural Area. A map of the area can be found at https://smgreenbelt.org/natural-areas/ and the entrance is located at 685 Lime Kiln Road.     The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, San Marcos Public Library, and Community Action, Inc. are partnering to bring you Tales on the Trails. Each month will feature a different story that you can follow along with as you explore our beautiful parks and natural areas. The first ever Tales on the Trails will be set up at Spring Lake Natural Area during the month of November and will feature "Grow Grateful" by Sage Foster-Lasser and Jon Lasser. As you navigate the trail, follow the story of Kiko as she goes on a camping trip with her class and learns about gratitude.   2. SMTX Veterans Month of Service - Week 2: Sponsor a Wreath

    The City of San Marcos, with assistance from the Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee and local veterans’ organizations, will be hosting a month of service opportunities for the community to honor all who have served. These opportunities will replace the traditional Veterans Day Parade the City hosts each year. November 8-14 - Sponsor a Wreath: Visit the Wreaths Across America website to sponsor a remembrance wreath to be placed on gravesites of veterans buried in the City of San Marcos Cemetery on December 19, 2020, Wreaths Across America Day.     The City of San Marcos will be hosting the inaugural SMTX Hometown Holiday Shoebox Parade on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, online at 2 p.m. The parade is dedicated to promoting community engagement, holiday spirit, and shopping local in the great city of San Marcos. There is no cost to participate. Drop off dates, times, and locations: Thursday, Nov. 12 at the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, 202 N. C.M.
