The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, San Marcos Public Library, and Community Action, Inc. are partnering to bring you Tales on the Trails at Spring Lake Natural Area during the month of November. As you navigate our trails, follow the story of Kiko as she goes on a camping trip with her class and learns about gratitude. “This story is based on the ‘theory of mind,’ which is the ability to take the perspective of others and recognize that each person has their own thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. Growing gratitude leads to greater happiness and stronger interpersonal relationships.” You and your family are invited to take a self-guided tour starting at the Lime Kiln trailhead of Spring Lake Natural Area. Children’s Book Week is November 9-15. In celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading, we'll be sharing some of our favorite stories with you every day at 1:00 p.m.

The City of San Marcos, with assistance from the Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee and local veterans’ organizations, will be hosting a month of service opportunities for the community to honor all who have served. These opportunities will replace the traditional Veterans Day Parade the City hosts each year. November 8-14 - Sponsor a Wreath: Visit the Wreaths Across America website to sponsor a remembrance wreath to be placed on gravesites of veterans buried in the City of San Marcos Cemetery on December 19, 2020, Wreaths Across America Day. The City of San Marcos will be hosting the inaugural SMTX Hometown Holiday Shoebox Parade on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, online at 2 p.m. The parade is dedicated to promoting community engagement, holiday spirit, and shopping local in the great city of San Marcos. There is no cost to participate. Drop off dates, times, and locations: Thursday, Nov. 12 at the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, 202 N. C.M.
