  1. Adult Pickleball Open Play

    November 20, 2020, 8:30 AM - 11:45 AM @ San Marcos Activity Center Gym

    Pickleball is offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays. You must reserve a time slot to play. There are two, 1.5 hour time slots that are available each day Pickleball is offered. One is from 8:30-10:00 AM, the other is from 10:15-11:45 AM. You are only allowed to sign up for one time slot per day. There will be four courts set up, with maximum of four people per court with four people waiting/resting in each gym. It is open play for both gyms and the gyms are no longer designated as competitive or recreational. Participants must bring their own Pickleball paddles and ball (balls are available for purchase). Players serve only their ball. Masks must be worn while inside the Activity Center. All players must adhere to proper social distancing guidelines. All players must agree that they have read and understand the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department Release and Waiver of Liability.   1. Tales on the Trails

    November 20, 2020, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM @ Spring Lake Natural Area

    The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, San Marcos Public Library, and Community Action, Inc. are partnering to bring you Tales on the Trails at Spring Lake Natural Area during the month of November. As you navigate our trails, follow the story of Kiko as she goes on a camping trip with her class and learns about gratitude. “This story is based on the ‘theory of mind,’ which is the ability to take the perspective of others and recognize that each person has their own thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. Growing gratitude leads to greater happiness and stronger interpersonal relationships.” You and your family are invited to take a self-guided tour starting at the Lime Kiln trailhead of Spring Lake Natural Area. A map of the area can be found at https://smgreenbelt.org/natural-areas/ and the entrance is located at 685 Lime Kiln Road.   1. Winter Wonderland Kits

    November 20, 2020 - November 29, 2020

    It may not feel like winter outside just yet, but you can turn down the AC and pretend with our Winter Wonderland Kits! These at-home activity kits are designed for two and cost $7.00 per kit. Each will include winter-themed items and activities, such as crafts, snacks, hot chocolate, supplies to build mini gingerbread houses, and a few more items. You can purchase your kit by searching for Winter Wonderland Kits at www.sanmarcostx.gov/ACTIVEsmtx from November 20-29.   2. SMTX Veterans Month of Service - Week 3: Write a Letter

    November 15, 2020 - November 21, 2020 @ Online

    The City of San Marcos, with assistance from the Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee and local veterans’ organizations, will be hosting a month of service opportunities for the community to honor all who have served. These opportunities will replace the traditional Veterans Day Parade the City hosts each year. The public is encouraged to decorate their home, vehicle, bike, and/or place of business with flags, bunting, yellow ribbons, and other patriotic items for the month of November. The public is also encouraged to turn their porch light green for the month for the “Greenlight a Vet” initiative. November 15-21 - Write a Letter: The public is encouraged to write a letter to a veteran living in a Texas State Veterans Home. The Veterans Land Board Mail Drop program allows us to show appreciation for a Veteran, their service and dedication to our great nation.
