Railroad Overpass at Yarrington and

Post Roads Is Complete

The City of San Marcos, Hays County and Carma Developers dedicated the Yarrington Overpass at Blanco Vista on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

The overpass provides direct access from the Yarrington Road exit at IH 35 to the Blanco Vista neighborhood. Working with the Blanco Vista Community Development plan, the City partnered with the developer, Carma Texas, Inc., to establish a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (click here to view) to help pay for infrastructure costs in the area, including the overpass.

Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIRZs) are special districts created by local governments to publicly finance needed structural improvements and enhanced infrastructure within a defined area.

The TIRZ will help to facilitate the development of over 2,000 single family home sites, as well as sites for commercial and light-industrial use. As a result, the City and County will benefit  from the development in terms of quality regional growth and new sales and ad valorem tax revenues.
