The City of San Marcos CDBG program offers several housing related initiatives available to the San Marcos community. CDBG housing related programs are available to those households and individuals that meet income guidelines established by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
San Marcos is considered part of the Austin Metropolitan Statistical area (MSA) and follows the regional Average Median Income (AMI) guidelines. Income guidelines stipulate that CDBG housing programs are available to households and individuals below 80% of the AMI, as published periodically. Click here to see income guidelines.

The City of San Marcos participates in the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs Housing Tax Credit Program that offers incentives for the development of affordable rental multi-family projects.

The City of San Marcos also partners with Austin Habitat for Humanity, which service area includes Hays County. The City of San Marcos is currently partnering with Austin Habitat For Humanity for free Homebuyer Education Workshops.
