Christmas Tree Drop Off

All trees must be natural and free off ornaments, decorations, lights. tree stands. bags and artificial snow. 

Tree Drop Off: Open to all residents thru January 31st at the Parks & Recreation Dept (401 E Hopkins). Trees collected at the drop off will be turned into mulch, available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Mulch is self-service only. Please bring your own tools and bags.

Curbside Pick Up: Available for City of San Marcos Residential Garbage Customers only thru January 31st. Place your tree curbside next to your Green Waste cart on your Green Waste collection day. Trees 4 feet or taller must be cut in half.

The service is open to residential garbage customers in San Marcos. Residents are also invited to load and take mulch at the site. Residents must wear a mask and follow instructions from staff.

People wishing to drop off brush and other green waste must provide a copy of a City utility bill and unload their own material at the site.

Material from commercial operations will not be accepted.

  1. TDS LANDFILL ACCESS

San Marcos residential garbage customers can also take up to 5 cubic yards of green waste to the TDS Landfill once a month at no additional charge. Only yard waste like branches or bags of leaves will be accepted; no other bulk material is permitted.

You must take your driver's license and a copy of your utility bill showing residential garbage service. Remember to cover the load with a tarp to avoid a fee.
