Regular Trimming
SMTX Utilities - Electric regularly trims trees, in accordance with the City's Tree Trimming Policy, to maintain adequate clearance between electric lines and trees. Trimming tree limbs is essential in providing dependable electric service with few interruptions.
The City contracts with vegetation management companies to assist with the tree trimming program. All trimming is done in accordance with specifications provided by a Certified Arborist, industry standards for tree trimming, and Texas Forest Service oak wilt guidelines. Prior to trimming, door hangers are left at the residences in the area providing the name and phone number for the City's contractor along with the starting date for the work. Residents do not need to be home during the tree maintenance and the contractor will remove all trimming materials. The brush and limb cuttings are ground into mulch as part of the program.
