The City’s Parks and Recreation Department is looking for outstanding local women to honor during the annual induction ceremony in October. A committee of former recipients will review the nominations and select the honorees.

  • meeting the needs of the community
  • demonstration of community initiative
  • influencing positive change and going beyond the call of duty

The Women’s Hall of Fame began in 1984 to honor women for their volunteerism and leadership in the community. Since then, more than 140 women have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“We’re excited to reintroduce this annual event to our community,” said Parks and Recreation Marketing and Outreach Coordinator Christie Murillo. “The last Women’s Hall of Fame was in 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we know that there are some exceptional women in San Marcos that deserve to be honored for the numerous contributions they’ve made to our community.”

The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, August 18, 2023, at 4 p.m. The nomination form is available online Paper nominations are also available at the Parks and Recreations Office, 401 E. Hopkins Street.
