Training Battalion Chief, Howie Minor
Battalion Chief Howie Minor has been with the San Marcos Fire Department since 1990. He received his Firefighter Certification from TEEX Fire Training Field in College Station, Texas. BC Minor has served as Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, and Captain. He was previously serving as Battalion Chief in Operations on B shift since 2014.
He holds certifications from the Texas Commission of Fire Protection in Advance Structural Firefighter, Fire Officer IV, Hazardous Material Technician, Driver/Operator, Incident Safety Officer and Field Examiner.
He is currently responsible for scheduling, tracking, administering and oversees training for all members of the department including EMS, Fire and Hazardous Material Certifications.
EMS Captain, Louis Gonzales
EMS Training Captain/Paramedic Louis Gonzales received his firefighter certification from San Antonio Community College and started his career with the Kerrville Fire Department where he served 7 years. He began his service with San Marcos Fire Department on July 6, 2010 where he has served as a firefighter and shift Captain. Captain Gonzales hold the following certifications: EMT-P, Advanced Firefighter, Instructor 2, Fire Officer 2, Haz-Mat Technician, Driver Operator, and Basic Wildland.
Captain Gonzales moved into the training division on May 4, 2020 when the training division was split into Fire and EMS training. Captain Gonzales in involved with the training, credentialing, and tracking of all the firefighting EMS requirements.
