Dairy Queen on Hwy 80 had a grand opening on Saturday, July 29 and recruited the Fire Department and Police Department in a banana split eating contest. The Fire Department won the challenge! If the food had been donuts, then the outcome might have been different. Firefighters love ice cream!
Twenty percent of the sales raised during the hour of 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. went towards the winner’s choice of a charity. The fire department chose The 100 Club of Central Texas and the organization recieved almost $108.00 dollars. The 100 Club of Central Texas provides financial and emotional support to the families of first responders who have been killed or critically injured in the line of duty.
