9-11 Remembrance Ceremony Was Held on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.
The San Marcos Fire Department held a remembrance ceremony to commemorate the heroes and victims of 9-11 near the Fire Bell at San Marcos City Hall.
The program opened with a welcome from Interim Assistant City Manager, Stephanie Reyes. Members of the San Marcos Fire Department Honor Guard raised the flag that was flown over San Marcos City Hall that tragic morning of September 11, 2001. Following the flag raising was the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem was sung by Tammy Strakos, an employee of the City of San Marcos. Mayor Hughson followed with a proclamation. The historical fire bell was tolled in honor of the 343 first responders who perished on 9-11 with a moment of silent reflection following.
Fresh flowers were placed on the 9-11 Flower Memorial by attendees.
