Library News

English Language Learners Registration

August 28, 6:30 p.m.

English classes for adults. Clases de inglés para adultos. Classes are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 6:30-8:30 PM. Las clases son los lunes, martes, miércoles y jueves 6:30-8:30 PM. All interested adults must attend a orientation before class begins. Todos los adultos interesados deben asistir a una orientación antes de comenzar la clase.

 

Jennifer’s Book Chat

August 28, 6:30 p.m.

The goal of Jennifer's Book Chat is to discover books and authors we didn't know we'd love. At each meeting, staff member Jennifer will announce a surprise topic and together we'll select books to discuss at the upcoming meeting. Avid readers, this program is for you.


High School Equivalency Registration (Part 2)

August 29, 9:00 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.

Adults wanting to prepare for the HSE exam come register for our free classes. Classes meet Monday through Thursday at 9:00 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Must have attended Part 1 on August 27. Info: Call 512.393.8215


Creation Station

August 29, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This program provides children a chance to explore many art forms. Come stretch your creativity with different art and maker projects each month! All supplies provided. Ages 5-10.

August 30, 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Children are invited to the library for great stories, songs, and fun


Baby Storytime

August 30, 12:00 p.m.

An early literacy playgroup for pre-walkers. Join other babies for songs, stories, stretches and playtime!


Collage Making 

September 1, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Collage is the art of creating an image by assembling a range of materials onto a two-dimensional surface. Local artist Cathy Sparks will guide you through the process of selecting materials to design a compelling composition that is meaningful to you. Registration required.


Guided Piano Meditation

September 1, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Topic: Money Heart Alignment. Align your chakras to become one with money and manifest an abundance of money in your life. Presented by Winkofheart aka Brett Somers.

September 3, 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Children are invited to the library for great stories, songs, and fun.


Cuéntame Bilingual Stories

September 3, 12:00 p.m.

For ages 3 to 6. Stories, songs, and fun in English and Spanish. Para niños de 3 a 6 años. Cuentos, canciones, y diversión en inglés y español.


Teen Anime Club

September 3, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

If you love anime, manga, or Japanese pop culture, come join us for a fun time watching anime films. Socialize, meet new friends, and discuss your favorite series. Light refreshments provided. Ages 12-17.

 

Computer Class

September 4, 10:00 a.m.

Free introductory computer classes in email, Internet searching, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel for adults. Learn how to get started with your iPad or tablet.


50+ Facebook for Seniors

September 4, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

San Marcos Activity Center

Learn how to sign up for Facebook, share pictures, get involved with people and groups around you, and follow your interests and hobbies!


1st Wednesday Book Club

September 4, 1:00 p.m.

Adults discuss Good to Eat: Riddles of Food and Culture by Marvin Harris.
