Passport to Reading Challenge & Chat

January 23, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join us this month in our Passport to Reading challenge. January’s challenge is to read a book with an animal in it. Both fiction and nonfiction books are welcome! Each Passport participant is invited to briefly present the book they read.


Creation Station

January 23, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This program provides children a chance to explore many art forms. Come stretch your creativity with different art and maker projects each month! All supplies provided. Ages 5-10.


T(w)een Bad Art Night

January 23, 5:30 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.

Sometimes it’s good to be bad. Bring your creativity, or lack of as the case may be, and use our supplies to create a “disaster-piece!" Participants will have 40 minutes to create something dreadful. Each piece will be displayed and attendees will enjoy light refreshments as they vote for the worst piece of art. The winner will have the distinction of Best Bad Artist and receive a prize! Ages 9-12 should attend our session at 5:30 p.m., while ages 12-17 should attend our 6:30 p.m. session.


Puppet Show! Anansi and the Talking Melon

January 24, 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.

The library puppeteers perform a puppet show for all ages.


Baby Storytime

January 24, 12:00 p.m.

An early literacy playgroup for pre-walkers. Join other babies for songs, stories, stretches and playtime!


Job Search and Résumé Assistance

January 25, 10:00 a.m.

Applying for work? This program provides hands-on assistance with your job search, including advice on job seeking, résumé and cover letter writing, networking, and how to apply for jobs. No registration required. This service is free.


Too Much Stuff? Organizing and Downsizing Tips

January 25, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Let’s talk how to simplify in the new decade! Julie K. from Designs by Jujubz, LLC will be presenting a free session on tips for organizing and downsizing. If simplifying and decluttering are on your mind, this is the session for you!


Storytime

January 28, 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Children are invited to the library for great stories, songs, and fun.


Cuéntame Bilingual Stories

January 28, 12:00 p.m.

For ages 3 to 6. Stories, songs, and fun in English and Spanish. Para niños de 3 a 6 años. Cuentos, canciones, y diversión en inglés y español.


Microsoft Office Certification Registration (Part 1)

January 28, 1:00 p.m.

You must attend Part 2 on January 30. Free classes meet Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. from February 3 to May 28. This class will cover: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, typing, business letters and e-mails, copiers, phones, scanners, fax machines, resumes, and interviewing.


Computer Class

January 29, 10:00 a.m.

Free introductory computer classes in email, Internet searching, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel for adults. Learn how to get started with your iPad or tablet.


Jennifer’s Book Chat

January 29, 6:30 p.m.

The goal of Jennifer’s Book Chat is to discover books and authors we didn’t know we’d love. Staff member Jennifer will announce a surprise topic each month, and together we’ll select books to discuss at the upcoming meeting. Serious readers, this program is for you.
