The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Services Division is partnering with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Phi Xi Omega Chapter to host a community backpack giveaway and school supply drive on Saturday, Aug. 29 in the San Marcos Activity Center’s parking lot, 501 East Hopkins St.
Free backpacks with school supplies will be available from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. while supplies last. Backpacks are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. A limit of two per vehicle will be enforced.
This will be a drive-thru event and participants must stay in their vehicles at all times. Staff will be wearing masks and attendees are asked to wear one as well during any interaction.
