During the week of Monday, June 6 - Sunday, June 12, San Marcos Fire Department volunteered for many events and activities with The Sunshine Kids Foundation. The Sunshine Kids Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. SMFD volunteers with the Sunshine Kids every summer when they visit the Hill Country to assist in providing fun and positive group activities for children with cancer.
SMFD was alongside the children all week as they participated in many fun summer events such as, floating the San Marcos River, visiting Schlitterbahn water park and Sea World. “Sunshine Kids had a totally tubular time floating the river, enjoying a BBQ dinner, and pool party” said The Sunshine Kids Foundation in their Facebook post on June 10.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, The Sunshine Kids haven’t visited the Hill Country since 2019. SMFD is glad to have them back this year and always happy to have The Sunshine Kids come through town.
