On Monday, May 15, 2017, the San Marcos Fire Department and Police Department assisted the 100 Club of Central Texas to support them in a fundraiser with Freddy’s Custard and Steakburgers.  The event coincided with Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The Peace Officers Memorial Day Fundraiser was born out of owner and operator James Oberg’s desire to expand his support of local first responders following the death of San Antonio Police Department Officer Robert Deckard in December of 2013. After witnessing the outpouring of support during a fundraiser for the Deckard family, Oberg decided to bring awareness to National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the work of The 100 Club.

As the first response for first responders, The 100 Club of Central Texas is the community leader in providing support to the families of first responders who have been killed or critically injured in the line of duty. The club serves the families of emergency medical technicians, firefighters, and law enforcement officers throughout the Central Texas counties of Bastrop, Bell, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson.  Area Freddy’s Restaurants donated 20% of lunchtime proceeds to the 100 Club.
