[ARCHIVED] Texercise is Coming to San Marcos in October

San Marcos Parks and Recreation is bringing Texercise to San Marcos for those aged 50 and above in October.

Texercise Select is a free, 10-week evidence-based program that is conducted by a trained facilitator. Participants will meet at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins, every Monday and Wednesday at 2 p.m. for a 10-week period. The first meeting will take place on Monday, Oct. 1. No registration is required to participate.

Texercise helps people become educated and motivated to improve their health and quality of life. The program brings people together in groups to engage in healthy lifestyle behaviors, and participants will receive incentives throughout the program to aid in motivation.

Each session is 90 minutes, which includes interactive, educational discussions and physical activities. The goal is to build confidence in performing physical activities and making knowledgeable, nutritious decisions outside of the program.

Texercise is a statewide fitness program developed by the Department of Aging and Disability Services to educate and involve Texans and their families in physical activities and proper nutrition. The Texercise program promotes activities among individuals, as well as community events that support fitness in all areas of life.
