The 2018 inductees into the Women's Hall of Fame, was long-time community volunteer, Aleene Howser, wife of Engineer Richard Howser. The ceremony was held on Monday, October 8, 2018. The hall of fame was established in 1984 to honor notable San Marcos women.
Volunteering is a full-time job for Aleene Howser. She loggs between 60 - 80 hours each week. The hours are spent volunteering at CTMC, San Marcos Tourist Information Center, St. John Catholic Church, the San Marcos Fire Department with their open houses and fundraisers like MDA Fill the Boot and Pancake with Santa breakfasts. She also helps with Pink Heels projects to benefit the American Cancer Association and San Marcos Police Department's Blue Santa program, National Night Out, and takes care of other needs that may arise in her neighborhood.
The San Marcos Fire Department is proud of her many accomplishments and if anyone deserved this honor into the Women's Hall of Fame, it would be Aleene Howser.
