As part of the City’s Capital Improvements Program, the City of San Marcos will be closing lanes on Aquarena Springs Dr. between Sessom Dr. and Charles Austin Dr. for construction beginning on Tuesday, June 11.
The project will replace an aging water main, preventing future road damage and traffic disruptions. Approximately 750 feet of the water main will be replaced by a method called pipe bursting, which minimizes the need for open excavation of the roadway and extensive traffic controls.
Lane closures down to single lanes will occur in periods throughout the project. The work is expected to be completed by the end of August 2019, weather permitting.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to use caution in and around construction zones.
