NOTICE: Mayor’s Order Prohibits Gatherings Over 10 & Closes Select Facilities Until May 11

All Parks and Recreation programs and events have been suspended through May 11. The Activity Center is closed until further notice. River front parks, playgrounds, the skate park, dog park, public restrooms and water fountains are closed. River front parks include: Rio Vista, City Park, Plaza Park, Veramendi, Bicentennial, Children’s Park, Crook Park, Veteran’s Memorial Park, Dog Beach, Capes Park, Thompson’s Island, Stokes Park, Ramon Lucio Park, and Wildlife Annex/Wilderness Park. San Marcos will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the State Department of Health Services, the Hays County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control. Current updates and helpful links may be found at

Details The Gary Softball Complex consists of eight fields located adjacent to the entrance to Gary Job Corps and across the highway from Quail Creek Country Club. The adult complex consists of four fields with skinned infields and 300 foot fences. The adult four-plex is currently used to host adult leagues on week nights from March through December. The complex is also available for weekend rentals and practices. Temporary 225' fences are available for youth fastpitch. The youth four-plex consists of four fields with skinned infields and 225' fences. The complex hosts youth leagues in the Spring, Summer, and Fall and is available for weekend tournament rentals.

  • Adults - $20 per hour
  • Lights: $16 per hour
  • Youth - $20 per hour

  • Non-Residents: $157 per field
  • Residents: $79 per field
  • Supervisor Fee: $15 per hour
  • Temporary Fences: $75 per field


The City softball program is affiliated with USA Softball of Texas. We recommend that all tournament rentals also be sanctioned by USA Softball, but it is not mandatory. However, if the event is affiliated with another organization, it must be insured equivalent to insurance obtained through USA Softball and must list the City as San Marcos as being covered.

Complex Lottery

A Complex Lottery is held the second Saturday in December for all weekend dates the following year. A $250 deposit per event must be presented the day of the lottery.
