  1. Tales on the Trails

    February 10, 2021, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM @ Styx Trail at Upper Purgatory Creek

    The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, San Marcos Public Library, and Community Action, Inc. are partnering to bring you Tales on the Trails. Each month will feature a different story that you can follow along with as you explore our beautiful parks and natural areas. The February 2021 Tales on the Trails will be set up at Upper Purgatory Creek and will feature "Back of the Bus" by Aaron Reynolds. You and your family are invited to take a self-guided tour along the 0.7 mile Styx Trail at Upper Purgatory, located at 1753 Valencia Way. Don't forget to take a photo during your visit and submit to cmarler@sanmarcostx.gov by March 1 to be entered into a drawing for a prize! Please show respect when enjoying our programs and beautiful natural areas by not removing or destroying items along the trail system. Thanks for helping make this program successful for our whole community!

  2. Baby Day

    Baby Day is the only statewide celebration of babies and toddlers, when early experiences shape lifelong potential. Presented by First3Years, their third annual event will be a week-long celebration, taking place entirely online from February 7-13, 2021. The digital event will bring more than 100 partner-led activities centered around early learning child development, including infant & toddler yoga, music classes, dancing, curated art, storytime, and more. Each registrant will be provided an educational package which will include items like an egg shaker, a book, art supplies, and more. Register by January 22nd to receive your educational package!

  3. Book Matchmaking

    The librarians at the San Marcos Public Library are here to play matchmaker! Take a chance and let us set you up on a book date. If you’re lucky, you may even find your next favorite book! Fill out the linked form to participate. Based on your preferences we will place two books on hold for you. Once your items are available to pick up, you will receive a hold notice letting you know your items are ready. You must have a San Marcos Public Library card to participate.

  4. February Reading Contest

    Calling all book lovers! Join us for a reading contest during the month of February for adults 18+. Readers will track their reading on the Reader Zone app. The top reader, determined by the person who logs the most pages, will win a San Marcos Public Library tote bag! All other participants will be entered in a drawing, where one lucky reader will also win a library tote! Information on how to join the contest will be posted on January 31st. *Anyone (18+) is welcome to participate, but you must be a San Marcos Public Library card holder to win prizes.*

    Wander Through Winter is a FREE five-week challenge! Each week's challenge will be shared on Monday morning on the Community Services Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/smtxCS/). Week one begins on January 25! Participants who complete at least three out of the five challenges and submit photos to our Google form (https://forms.gle/vB9YCJWuvEKgjQj69) by March 2nd will be entered into our Wander Through Winter contest.
