50 - Plus Programs

  1. Adult Pickleball Open Play

    May 28, 2021, 8:30 AM - 11:45 AM @ San Marcos Activity Center

    Pickleball is offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays. You must reserve a time slot to play. There are two, 1.5 hour time slots that are available each day Pickleball is offered. One is from 8:30-10:00 AM, the other is from 10:15-11:45 AM. You are only allowed to sign up for one time slot per day. There will be four courts set up, with maximum of four people per court with four people waiting/resting in each gym. It is open play for both gyms and the gyms are no longer designated as competitive or recreational. Participants must bring their own Pickleball paddles and ball (balls are available for purchase). Players serve only their ball. Masks must be worn while inside the Activity Center. All players must adhere to proper social distancing guidelines. All players must agree that they have read and understand the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department Release and Waiver of Liability. Sign up for a Pickleball time slots by visiting

  1. Station #2 Grand Opening & Engine #2 Push-In Ceremony

    May 28, 2021, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ San Marcos Fire Station #2

    Please join us as we celebrate the opening of the City’s newest Fire Station, located at 205 Flint Ridge Rd in the La Cima Neighborhood. Fire Station #2 will be replacing the existing Fire Station #2, currently located at the corner of Academy and Holland. We will also be pushing-in a brand new Engine 2 at this same time! Kids are welcome and encouraged to attend and help us dry off the new Engine after we initiate and push-in the newest Engine to it's new home!

    The librarians at the San Marcos Public Library are here to play matchmaker! Take a chance and let us set you up on a book date. If you’re lucky, you may even find your next favorite book! Fill out the linked form to participate. Based on your preferences we will place two books on hold for you. Once your items are available to pick up, you will receive a hold notice letting you know your items are ready. You must have a San Marcos Public Library card to participate.

  1. Tales on the Trails

    The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department and Community Action, Inc. are partnering to bring you Tales on the Trails! Tales on the Trails will be set up along the Virginia Witte Way Trail at Schulle Canyon Natural Area. Each month we will feature a new story for you follow along with as you enjoy the trail. May’s featured story is "I Will Love You" by Alyssa Satin Capucilli. You and your family are invited to take a self-guided tour along the ½ mile accessible trail located at 100 Ridgewood. Stay tuned for details on next month’s story! Please show respect when enjoying our programs and beautiful natural areas by not removing or destroying items along the trail system. Thanks for helping make this program successful for our whole community!
